Gay Christians (Thoughts)

Jewel CrossRay Pritchard linked to a letter from a gay sister in Christ. You must get to the third paragraph to understand… CLICK HERE. After reading it, I decided to revisit previous thoughts of mine on homosexuality and Christ (2008).

There is NO difference between a person claiming Christ who is gay and a “Christian” (Quotes intentional) who fornicates or commits adultery or steals or is a drunkard or bitter or follows horoscopes or views pornography or is jealous or causes divisions or has fits of anger or slanders the character of others or won’t forgive or deceives people or is greedy for money or power… and many more things. See 1 Cor 6:9-11 and Gal 5:19-22.

Consider this excerpt from the gay sister in Christ… (Emphasis mine):

Rarely do we hear any words of hope. At least we recognize our sin. Does the church as a whole see theirs? Do you see the sin of pride, that you are better than or more acceptable to Jesus than we are? Have you been Christ-like in your relationships with us? Would you meet us at the well, or restaurant, for a cup of water, or coffee? Would you touch us even if we showed signs of leprosy, or aids? Would you call us down from our trees, as Christ did Zacchaeus, and invite yourself to be our guest? Would you allow us to sit at your table and break bread? Can you love us unconditionally and support us as Christ works in our lives, as He works in yours, to help us all to overcome?

To those of you who would change the church to accept the gay community and its lifestyle: you give us no hope at all. To those of us who know God’s word and will not dilute it to fit our desires, we ask you to read John’s letter to the church in Pergamum. “I have a few things against you: You have people there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin by eating food sacrificed to idols and by committing sexual immorality. Likewise, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Repent therefore!” You are willing to compromise the word of God to be politically correct. We are not deceived. If we accept your willingness to compromise, then we must also compromise. We must therefore accept your lying, your adultery, your lust, your idolatry, your addictions, YOUR sins. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

We do not ask for your acceptance of our sins any more than we accept yours.

Same sex marriage is just as wrong as adultery and fornication… anger… and lying. Homosexuality is just as wrong as drunkenness… pornography… slander and gossip and gluttony and HYPOCRISY. This is the message the Church must acknowledge!

Christians need to get the log out of their eye before pointing out the speck in other’s eyes SO THAT they can help others.

The Truth has always been with us. It’s just a case of does It humble us enough through Jesus to see ourselves in the light of who He is. Self-Confrontation. We are all flawed……

I wonder how different this world would be if everyone was refered to by their sin, like the gays, instead of the labels we wear now. Phornographer, gossip, adulterer, hypocrite, etc. instead of pastor, Christian, doctor, lawyer or teacher… Christians seem to have a propencity for ignoring that we are all sinners and only by the unmerited grace of God are we free of the consequences of our own sins. All sin is unacceptable to our Heavenly Father, even if the church ignores some and not others, or their own. Great insights Pastor Ron!

All of the above are great insights. I must say, it has given me much to think about. Thank you again, Br. Ron and to Robert and B-rad, I thank you as well for your eye opening comments.
