1 Corinthians 10:31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
1 Corinthians 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
Read those verses closely and slowly. Meditate upon them. Drive them deep into your heart. Note seriously what the Holy Spirit inspired Paul to write. Think particularly how far reaching each verse is for the Christian.
Christian theology IS to influence heavily: Education, recreation, interpersonal relationships, career, politics, voting, spending habits, eating, health, family, church, time management, speech, attitude, TV program selection, reading selection, internet surfing, watching movies… in short, EVERYTHING CHRISTIANS DO is to be dedicated to God’s Glory so as to reflect His character.
A problem, as I see it, is that the majority of those who name Christ as their Savior are not well versed in what God has given them by which to live their life… the Bible. Too many Christian’s total intake of Christian theology comes from what they learned in Sunday School growing up and/or from the songs they sang in church. When you compare that to what they’ve taken in from the world through TV, radio, movies and things like that… it probably ends up being 90% world, 10% God. And that’s not good.
So what’s the answer. Psalm 119:11, “They Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against Thee.” Reverse the percentage. Change what is taken into life. Make what is eternally important overcome what will perish.
